映画パンフレット専門店の店長が見てきた映画をレビューします
先ず、驚かされるのが「クリスチャン・ベイル」の容姿の豹変振りだが「ダークナイト(2008)」や「ターミネーター４(2009)」の主役を演じた時の面影は全くといっていいほどなかった。
この作品は実在のボクサー「ミッキー・ウォード」の半生を描いた伝記もので、主人公「マーク・ウォールバーグ」の兄貴役で出演していたのだが、完全に主役を喰ってしまうほどの存在感があった。
流石に2010年アカデミー賞の助演男優賞に選ばれるだけの演技は納得するしかない事に加えて、もう一人の助演女優賞になった母親役の「メリッサ・レオ」も体当たりの演技は非常に印象に残った。
本作は更に主人公の恋人役で助演女優賞の候補にも挙がっていた「エイミー・アダムス」もいて演技質の高い作品にもなっている。
この映画のテーマは何だったのだろう？と観終わってから改めて考えてみた。
大好きな兄貴がボクシングの世界へ導いてくれたが、大きな可能性を手にするには、麻薬に溺れた兄と縁を切るしかないという葛藤を描いた兄弟愛なのか？
女系家族で皆を指揮する母親と、唯一理解を示してくれる父親や恋人との狭間で揺れる家族愛なのか？
極悪な環境の中から抜け出したいのに抜け出せないというジレンマが伝わってくるほど非常に巧く描かれている。
何れにせよアメリカ映画らしいテーマで、最後はスポ根らしくボクシングの試合の映像は迫力があり見応えもあった。
過去のボクシングをテーマとした作品と比べても決して劣ってはいないので劇場での鑑賞をおススメします。
